not unique, plot holes, but kind of interesting
By Kindle Customer
The book is extremely reminiscent of other books with an identical plot (Evangeline Anderson being the most obvious); however, this reads like a fan fiction retelling of the mars needs women lottery trope. There are a lot of plot holes, ex the king calls and is speaking English from the start. The heroine teeters on the tstl ledge. She is willing to sell her car, quit her job, give up her home instead of marriage (her excuse is pretty flimsy) and monopolize the time and resources of a near stranger, and since everyone knows he has a thing for her, he'll let her... I liked the idea of the heroine having a backbone, and she doesn't cross into shrew territory, which was nice to have a strong female character, but other than standing up for herself, she doesn't really have a personality. There are a lot of problems with the plot, but it is interesting enough for kindle unlimited, but it is not of a quality to spend money on. I will look for future work from this author; I think she has talent, but I would like her to get an editor. The grammar is pretty bad. Reading other reviews, I think we might be seeing friends and family. While the book isn't bad, it couldn't earn more than 2 stars, maybe 3 if it weren't so derivative

Disappointed. Meh, it could have been really good.

Okay, I was really excited about this book, because I love sci-fi romance. This is a romance, only in that there are a male and female characters that fall in love. The basis for the plot, leads you to expect sexual tension, which you get, a little. An alien race needing human women for mates, not a new story, but a good one. The characters are described well, they play off of each other in an entertaining way, but the sexy bits, are non-existent. I don't mean toned down, there simply not there. The "sex scenes" are reminiscent of 1950's kiss, then fade to black, and wake up the next morning, all happy. I've read Young Adult books with more spark. It was a let down, because there was so much potential. Would I read the next in the series, meh, maybe, if it was free. Will I wait eagerly for the release of the next book, no. All in all, it was a disappointment.

Oh Dear!

I'm not sure how to put this. It was a good effort for a first book but came across as more of a fairy tale.
The author's middle-class American views and morality came across too clearly.
Her total ignorance of the behaviour and way of life of Earth royalty reflected in the naive portrayal of Alien royalty.
Then, of course, the story's been done before - and more believably.
Ok for young adults but otherwise check out S E Smith's 'Abducting Abby' the first in the Dragon Lords of Valdier series.
